Who is Tinashe Chipawe?
Born in Zimbabwe and now based in Lincoln, I am an artist, an advocate, and a passionate believer in the power of art to drive social change. As a neurodivergent individual diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, ADHD, and dyslexia, my work reflects my journey through challenges, triumphs, and a lifelong commitment to inclusivity and social equality.
The Resilience exhibition represents a significant chapter in my artistic journey. It is a culmination of my lived experiences, both as a neurodivergent person navigating a complex world and as someone committed to amplifying voices that often go unheard. My own journey has been shaped by struggles with mental health and the need for resilience, and I see this exhibition as a platform to showcase how art can be a vehicle for healing, connection, and transformation.
The artwork displayed in Resilience reflects a fusion of personal introspection and community stories, a vivid exploration of resilience seen through the lens of neurodiversity. Each piece tells a story, whether it’s a bold abstraction symbolising the chaos and clarity of my own mind or a portrait that speaks to the strength of someone else’s journey. I hope that through my work, viewers can find inspiration and perhaps a reflection of their own resilience. Art is, after all, a mirror to our shared humanity, and with Resilience, I aim to honour the resilience we each carry within.
